Art Show

On Saturday, Idaho Falls had their Art Show at the Greenbelt. The Greenbelt is a walking/biking path that follows the Snake River in downtown Idaho Falls. They have several community activities there through out the year. This past weekend was the art show. Ben and I took Gavin and walked around for about an hour. I love looking for a couple of reasons: 1) it makes the artsy side of me want to do something, and maybe someday sell it 2) I enjoy seeing what local artists are doing 3) there is just a lot to see. We saw a glass maker making a unicorn in front of the crowd, there were some really cool metal sculptures, lots of paintings and photographs, and just all kinds of things. Even Gavin was entertained the whole time!

Our favorite little booth was a pottery one. It is a husband and wife team that creates the pottery, and it's absolutely gorgeous. And the part we liked best was that they do personalized pottery: weddings, baby births, etc. It is a little pricey, but Ben and I are thinking we might save up for a wedding one. A piece of Family History

Yesterday I oiled and put together the baby's crib. This wood crib was made by my Grandpa Shoaf for my mom when she was pregnant with me. I slept in it, all my siblings slept in, Gavin and Macey slept in it, and now this baby will too! It's a fun piece of our family history,and an absolutely gorgeous piece of workmanship by grandpa.

Weekend in Provo

On Friday morning we drove down to visit Thomas, Melissa, and Macey in Provo. Gavin's not very fond of being stuck in his car seat (especially for long periods of time), but we made it.

That evening we drove up Spanish Fork Canyon and went to Melissa's ward camp out. Gavin was in rock heaven. We had a fun evening with the exception of Gavin falling and busting his lip on the cement. But luckily, not too long after, he was back playing in the rocks again. Once it got dark, they got a campfire going, and Melissa tried out a popcorn popper she recently acquired. The first time the popcorn got a little burnt and continued to get more burnt as she tried to figure out what to put the popcorn in. The second attempt was much better, but she poured it in a plastic bag. Needless to say, the bag melted and she lost part of her popcorn. We ended the night with s'mores, and headed back to Melissa's apartment.

Saturday morning Ben and I took Gavin to go visit a few of our good friends from our BYU married ward. We visited with Eric, Meg, and their little boy Scotty and with Adam, Martha, and their little girl Marian. We walked over to the duck pond at the edge of BYU campus, and Gavin loved it! He thought it was hilarious to throw bread to the ducks.

Saturday afternoon was a little birthday party for Macey over in the O'dells' backyard. She turns 1 on Wednesday! We were able to see some the Indiana people that are in the Provo area. We were able to visit with Sarah, Ty, and Andie, Marc and Jasmine, Ben and Chrissi, and Katie.
Macey loved the icing on her cupcake, and the big cupcake cake I helped Melissa decorate earlier that afternoon turned out AMAZING!

After a quick stop at a fast restaurant, we headed for home. We got in late, and slept as long as we could before we had to be ready for church at 9. We woke Gavin up 10 minutes before it was time to leave! It was a busy and tiring weekend, but we had a blast and enjoyed visiting with everyone. We wish we could make it down more often.

So I'm Told...

This past weekend we went to Provo to visit to Thomas, Melissa, and Macey. While we were there we also had a chance to visit with some good friends from our BYU married ward. I was informed by both Martha and Meg that blogging was the way to go, and I should definitely have a blog. SO here it goes... I have now officially become a blogger.
