So my sister, Melissa, always chews me out for not keeping my blog updated. I know I'm bad it... it's true. She says that my priorities should be 1: My Family 2: My Blog. Well, that's great, but what if number one always takes all of your time?! How do you find a balance in taking care of your family and still make time for yourself and the things you like to do? Now that I have two little boys I find that especially hard to do. Most of the time, I'm lucky if I get a half an hour during the day were both are napping at the same time, and then at night when they are in bed, I either want to spend time with my husband (it's nice to talk to another grown-up) or get some sleep.
Then my other issue is when I do try to do something for myself some how my boys have a mommy's-taking-some-time-for-herself-so-we-better-help-her-out radar. For instance, Friday night I ran to Wal-Mart to get a few things and ended up buying a Pilates kit for myself. I really want to get back to my pre-Gavin size... luckily, I'm pretty close to being pre-Xander size. So anyway, today Xander is asleep and I decide that I'll try out the new DVD. I figure I can manage with only Gavin. Do you know how hard it is to roll up verbrate by verbrate when a 30 pound 2 year old is sitting on you chest?! Then of course 15 minutes in, Xander wakes up, even though he should have stayed asleep! I guess I at least got something in, but really all that chaos for maybe 15 minutes of a work out... I've always heard by taking time for yourself, you can be a better mom and wife, and I do believe that, but really when am I supposed to do that?
Speaking of that radar... there's Xander waking up again.

This is so true--Scotty sees Mommy workout time as "let's jump on her stomach"! talk about an ab workout...and he doesn't just sit. he likes to bounce.
hard enough to knock the wind out of me.
on the up side, my arms are much more toned than they used to be!
YOU BLOGGED! I sure like to read your blog and know what you are up to! I'm glad that your priorities have been straightened! Be careful when you do all them workin' out kind of things... I drop kicked Macey today during a video and she was no pleased. They get a little crazy! Keep up the good work, I sure miss you, Melissa
Motherhood IS a balancing act. There are so many things I want to do in the small windows of time that I have. I find myself frustrated half the time b/c I'm not sure if I'm happy with what I did decide to do--clean, sleep, exercise, blog, catch up on fav shows (Biggest Loser & AI), shower & put on makeup, church stuff, play with the kids, cuddle my baby, hang with the hubby, cook dinner...SOOOO much!
