Anniversary

I know this post is a little dated, as our anniversary was back on the 7th. Things have been kinda crazy round here...

This was our 7th anniversary on the 7th. 

I had to do something fun and different this time around.

So I came up with this brilliant plan to surprise my wife. I just wondered if I could implement it, as my brain clicked on this great idea only 3 days before... :)

I thought of the Playmill Theater in West Yellowstone.

I don't know how many of you have been to this lovely little theater. One of best things about it is that you are basically on the stage. The first row is seriously an aisle from the stage. The whole auditorium only goes back about 10 rows. So, there is not a bad seat in the house.

The only "real" obstacle (I mean where there is a will there is a way - right?) in going is what to do with the boys... As this was to celebrate our anniversary, I didn't think the boys should tag along. The show starts (depending on the day) somewhere between 6pm and 8pm.  Add the drive time back and forth, it would make it a late night. Would a babysitter survive that long of a day...?

So, I texted my mom. I was really, secretly, hoping she would take the boys for the night... but, I didn't want to impose. So, I approached the idea of her just watching the boys and we'd come get them after the show. Also, knowing it was such late notice, I wasn't sure if the actual day would work for her to take them. So, I made it clear that we didn't have to go on the BIG day, just opening up the tickets (and seeing that we would be going) would be enough.

As luck would have it, mom agreed to take the boys over night on the actual day! I was so excited and couldn't wait to spring the surprise. I even sneaked-packed the boy's overnight bags...

Thursday started off like any other normal Thursday. I went off to work. Lachelle had no idea what was coming.

Surprise #1 - I got off work early that day.

Surprise #2 - I brought home flowers!

Surprise #3 - I loaded everyone up on the car and headed to Rexburg - still not telling her what was going on. Obviously our first destination became apparent fairly quickly...

Surprise #4 - The boys got left behind. But can I tell you that they were SOOOO excited to sleepover at Grandma's!

Surprise #5 - We headed north. At this point I told her my master plan. Lachelle was excited. This was something that she didn't even think was a possibility.

We saw "The Drowsy Chaperone."

We both about died laughing in our seats!

The best part of the whole evening was being with my wife with no kids. It was so much fun. I really enjoyed going and spending time with just her. Thanks to mom for helping make it all happen.

Most of all - thanks to my beautiful wife that has made these 7 years fabulous. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her.

Fancified

Redhead

I've pretty much always considered myself a redhead. I've got the fair skin and freckles of a redhead, the spunky feisty-ness of a redhead, and sometimes even the temper of a redhead. Growing up I have some pictures that even made me appear to be redheaded.

Well after almost 30 years... yes it's true I'm almost 30...
I've finally become a redhead! 

Two weeks ago I went to Ben's cousin Lisa and had her dye my hair auburn. I was wanting a change.
 And I must say I'm loving it!
It looks dark brown inside, but out in the natural light the red really pops.

My Little Artists

My boys are finally getting big enough to not only have the ability to sit long enough to do something crafty, but also want to do something crafty. So yesterday before church, ( we don't go until 1pm... yuck.) I set up shop and Ben and I helped the boys paint some wood projects confiscated from Grandma Ann's house.

Xander painted an apple green... his favorite color. OR at least at first... if you pay attention you'll notice the apple is red in the finished project pictures. He wanted to keep painting so after covering it in green he covered it in red.

Gavin painted a birdhouse.

And here are the finished projects! Didn't they do a good job? They are so proud of their work.

Family Pictures 2011

Alright I'm not going to lie...
I've been a HUGE slacker 
when it comes to blogging. 
(Ben's done the last two posts! Thanks hun. Boo me.)
I'm hoping to change that. I've got plenty to blog about I just haven't taken the time to sit down and do it. I decided today while Gavin is at preschool and Xander and Landon are napping I'd start making amends.

I was terribly slow getting family pictures done this past year. It was almost the middle of DECEMBER before it happened. AND then it took me until the middle of JANUARY to finally get all of them mailed off to all the right family members. I prefer to wait until everyone gets their pictures in the mail before I post them online. Now that it's the middle of FEBRUARY...
I think I'll do that now.

We went back to Natalie again this year. I loved how her pictures turned out once again. Maybe one of these years I'll be on the ball enough to do outdoor pictures...

So there you have it. I just love looking at my family pictures over and over. It reminds me how truly blessed I am. I have such an amazing little family that makes me smile...
most of the time anyway. ;)

My goal is to get back to blogging and to do it a couple of times a week. SO come back again soon. I've got plenty to catch everyone up on.
