Adventures in Provoland

Two weekends ago, we made the longish trek down to Provo. We went to meet Melissa's adorable new little boy Henry and visit with my mom who flew in to help Melissa for a week and the rest of my family that is out here in the west. We sure missed those few stragglers who had to stay behind in the mid-west to hold down the fort. We arrived on Friday afternoon and spent it visiting at Melissa's. After a yummy dinner of homemade pizza, we head to the hotel to swim. Ben and I (and I think everyone else including Ben's brother Daron) were glad we splurged on a hotel with an indoor pool. We all had a ton of fun swimming!

On Saturday morning, Thomas gave Henry a name and a blessing, it's kind of like a christening. It turned out really nice, and Thomas' family also came, so we had a big group of family to celebrate. Later that afternoon, we decided to enjoy the beautiful fall weather, especially while the sun shone and coats weren't needed. What a change from our weather here... it was great! Gavin enjoyed duck pond, while Xander napped.

Then we all enjoyed the park until it was dinner time and too cold to be out. With some help from Grandma Crystal, Gavin figured out how to go up the big steps and down the slide all on his own. That was one his favorite things at the park, second only to the swings. My little man Xander loved it all... except the swings! The hat Gavin is wearing was made by my mom. Xander has a blue one, but he wouldn't leave it on that night.

After another yummy dinner, a cousin bath time, and goodbyes, we left Provo and headed home. It's always nice to return home to my own bed, especially when my kids were up at five that morning, but at the same time, it's sad to say goodbye for who knows how long. It was a quick trip, but it was great. The boys did really well on the drive down and back, the cousins got along really well, the boys got to play lots with Grandma, we ate really good food the whole time, and so much more packed into our little weekend. Thanks for having us, Melissa. Can't wait until your shanty is livable so we can come crash longer!
