Or So My Siblings Say...

I'm old. Though turning 28 doesn't really feel any different than any of my other birthdays in my 20s. Maybe when I turn 30 I'll feel older. I had a fabulous birthday... with one exception, Xander ended up sick. BUT other than that it was great. And it really was a whole birthday weekend. Kevin and Ann took our boys Friday and kept them overnight. One of the best gifts you can give a mom... a well deserved break! While the kids were away, Ben and I went to Chili's (thanks for the gift card mom and dad!), and then enjoyed The Lightening Thief with Tyler and Beth. It was great to have a day of just couple of time and then get to sleep soundly through the night! On Sunday (my actual birthday), Ben created a treasure hunt for me. (They like do that in his family.) I eventually found my "big" present and after trying to "guard" it from Gavin, we opened it up together. It's such a fun pan. I've already had fun making mini banana breads in it.

Then Sunday evening we went to Kevin and Ann's for dinner and birthday cake. Tyler and Beth came too. After finishing a yummy lasagna and pasta with pesto dinner, Ann pulled out this layered beauty. Gavin was so excited for the candles, but not very happy with me when I made him wait to blow out the candles until after they sang "Happy Birthday" to me. I got to open a few more sweet treats from the Ben and the boys. It was a great evening eating yummy food and being with family!

It was chocolate cake layered with chocolate pudding and whipped cream. Which happy belated birthday by the way!

Is the cake a trifle? I like this idea. I love your hair still too and wish you lived closer so that I could steal, I mean borrow your new pan.
